What these tools do not do

They do not give a CQC rating, legal advice or clinical advice, and they do not submit anything to CQC or to a council. Results depend on the information you enter. CQC rates a service on its own assessment, so a good self-assessment score is a prompt to check your evidence, not a guarantee. For the rules behind each tool, use the linked guide and CQC's own guidance.

If you are preparing for a visit, pair the self-assessment with the guide on how to prepare for a CQC inspection and the inspection day checklist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the CQCLogic tools really free?

Yes. Each tool is free to use and does not need an account. Some ask for your email address so we can send you a copy of the result.

Do I need to create an account to use them?

No. The public tools work without an account.

Does a high self-assessment score mean I will get a good CQC rating?

No. It is a self-check against CQC's five key questions and gives a readiness score, not a prediction of your rating. CQC bases ratings on its own assessment of your service.

Does the staffing calculator tell me how many staff I legally need?

No. There is no single legal staffing ratio in adult social care. The calculator gives an indicative guide from your residents' dependency; you remain responsible for deciding safe staffing.

Is the sleep-in pay checker legal advice?

No. It is a simplified check against National Minimum Wage requirements as set out in the Royal Mencap Society v Tomlinson-Blake ruling. If you are unsure, get specialist employment or payroll advice.

Can I link to these tools from my website?

Yes. Link to https://cqclogic.co.uk/free-cqc-tools/ and please use a descriptive link text such as "Free CQC tools for care providers".
